Starch, Protein and ME are all vital ingredients to maintain and increase growth rates of young animals but rapidly degradable starch can cause acidosis, so it is vital to introduce the nut slowly until the desired feed rate has been reached (0.50kg to 0.75kg per animal per day). The nut is recommended to be feed in winter and early spring. In paddock feeders can be used to control intake or trailed through a typical grain feeder.
