Velveting Nut

Starch, Protein and ME are all vital ingredients to maintain and increase growth rates of animals but rapidly degradable starch can cause acidosis, so it is vital to introduce the nut slowly until the desired feed rate has been reached (Red Stag up to 2kg per day & Waipiti Bull up to 3kg per day). It is suggested to start three weeks before button drop and continuing through until velvet is cut or until trophy growth is reached. In paddock feeders can be used to control intake or trailed through a standard grain feeder.
