Loose Lick Minerals for Dry Stock

All stock need some form of mineral supplementation throughout their life, as current diets do not always meet their nutrient requirements to promote productivity. This includes Calves, Yearlings and Dry Cows!

For an easy and effective method of mineral supplementation try DBC Loose Licks. Loose Licks allow the animal to self medicate to what minerals they are craving. The DBC waterproof formula prevents wastage, improves mineral utilisation and, overall healthier cows.

Don’t believe our loose lick minerals are water resistant ? Check out the video below !

DBC Loose Licks water resistant formulation supplies all stock classes with their essential vitamins, trace minerals, macro minerals and biotin.

  • Designed to support the growth and development of young stock from 12 weeks of age.
  • Enhances skeletal development and body condition in replacement heifers.
  • Provides adequate mineral and vitamin supplementation during the dry period.
  • Improves hoof and horn development preventing lameness.

All DBC Loose Licks are formulated at the correct mineral ratios to maximise bioavailability and utilisation by the cow. Such as DBC’s high Phosphorous Loose Lick, designed to meet the mineral requirements of stock grazing on Fodder Beet at the correct Phosphorous ratios to ensure the animal can absorb and utilise Phosphorous.

DBC have the ability to provide Loose Lick as macro minerals only, addition of mycotoxin binders, Customised Loose Lick, and mineral supplementation plans to ensure your herd is receiving the best minerals.

No Wastage. Cost Effective. Bioavailable.

Dairy Business Centre’s Loose Lick Mineral range is water proof to prevent wastage, cost effective, and provides bioavailable minerals for stock to utilise. There’s no other Loose Lick like it.

Differences between DBC’s Loose Lick Minerals & Molasses Lick Blocks

Loose licks are an efficient and easy way to supplement young stock and dry stock their minerals. However, how does the DBC Loose Lick stack up against the Molasses Lick Blocks?

With Lick Blocks, either salt or molasses, intake rates are too slow to provide enough mineral to each cow. They must stand and lick for a long time to meet mineral requirements, this results in either; cows not having enough time at the block to get enough minerals or the farmer putting many more blocks in the paddock – costing in time and money. In addition, consumption is encouraged by sweeteners so satisfaction of mineral requirement is not guaranteed and excess consumption is a possibility.

DBC Loose Lick is a water proof, loose mineral that has no added flavouring which means the animal is only consuming what minerals they are craving. There is minimal harvest cost as in one – two mouth fulls the animal has received their daily requirements!!

Comparing DBC Loose Lick to 150g Dose Rate of the Lick Block, DBC Loose Lick is…

5x greater in Copper
1.7 x greater in Cobalt
4.5x greater in Selenium
4x greater in Zinc & Iodine
There is also 20% more available Phosphorous !

When comparing price – Lick Blocks are costing you 2 -4 x more to receive less than the animals daily mineral requirement!!

For better bang for buck and for superior overall quality of minerals try Dairy Business Centre’s Loose Lick range!!

Autumn Calving and Transition

Get-Set-Cow is a Lead Feed supplementation pellet specifically formulated to help prepare pre-calving dairy cows for lactation. Containing anionic salts, Calcium, Magnesium, grain, protein, trace minerals and Rumensin for improved energy utilisation. All this in one pellet, which removes the need to dust minerals, removes the slow transitioning period of cows consuming grain and sets cows and staff up for an easier transition and smoother calving.

Benefits of using Get-Set-Cow Lead Feed…

  • Lifted energy levels
  • Reduced calving problems
  • Prepares cows for milking diet
  • Allows the cow to achieve peak production within 21 days
  • Minimises metabolic problems at calving and during the colostrum period
  • Cows are happier and healthier
  • Reduced vet visits
  • Allows staff more productive time spent on other tasks

The transition from late pregnancy to lactation is a high risk period due to cows having problems maintaining blood Calcium levels during calving . This can lead to metabolic issues such as milk fever. High Potassium levels in pasture can also limit Calcium and Magnesium absorption, therefore, it is a good idea to restrict grass 14 days pre-calving as this can aid in alleviating these problems.

Introducing Get-Set-Cow lead feed enables farmers to reduce the feeding of grass in the pre-calving/springer period. This prepares the cow and rumen for the change into a milking cow diet, resulting in increased feed intake, leading to increased milk production and reduced early lactation weight loss.

Product of the Month

Kemtrace Organic Liquid Chromium

How to combat Heat Stress and Maintain Productivity in your herd

As stated above, Heat Stress is when the heat load in cows is greater than their ability to lose heat. This can result in production loss, suppressed immunity and even late abortions.

Prevent heat stress using Organic Liquid Chromium. Scientifically proven to increase Dry Matter Intake, maintain and improve milk production and increase immunity during periods of stress.

Farmers who have trialled this product during times of stress noticed cows were not panting like they usually would be, maintained milk production, BCS and cows increased their DMI leading them to easily hit residual.

Maximize Calf Pellets – Autumn Special!

For the first 12 months of a calf’s life, skeletal growth occurs through the multiplication of cells. After 12 months, growth then moves to cellular stretch. We need to ensure calves have multiplied as many cells as possible during this period to ensure strong, healthy bones. If calves are grown out well, with optimal number of cells, then cellular stretch will have the heifer’s skeletal structure the same height as what she would be as a mature cow.

When compared to the protein and amino acid composition of other calf feeds; DBC MAXIMIZE tested at 94% bio-availability, compared to DDG based calf feeds at 22%.

Check out DBC’s MAXIMIZE Autumn Calf Feed special for North and South Island farmers.

South Island – $875/T delivered anywhere in the South Island + a refundable $20 wooden pallet fee. Contracts apply

North Island – $985/T delivered anywhere in the North Island. Minimum 3T delivery

Maximize is made here in Canterbury, using only the highest quality of ingredients to meet the calf’s nutritional requirements for skeletal growth, lean muscle mass development and healthy rumen formation. promoting bone cell multiplication for bone strength and growth.

Rustica Time Release Fertiliser, CR-N44

Avoid unnecessary and expensive N losses by using Rustica Time Release® CR-N44 90-120 day release N at 70-80 % the rate you would normally apply Urea, but only do it only once instead of multiple times a season.

Use on light soils, especially those that are intensively irrigated. N is released slowly which is rapidly absorbed by plant roots so N losses are minimal. On heavier soils leaching is often not such an issue, but the steady release to the crop or pasture is very beneficial.

Nitrogen in the root zone is nutrient, below that it is a pollutant.

Cost Effective. Productive. Sustainable.
